Swim Camp 2018, Lloret De Mar, Spain

Following the success of the 2015 & 2017 swim camps to France & Spain, Rhondda Swimming Club is currently planning a Swim Camp for 2018.

As the 2017 Swim Camp was well received, we have decided to return to Lloret De Mar, Spain for 2018.

We are now asking swimmers if they would be interested in attending the swim camp so we can gauge the numbers and obtain final quotes. The swim camp will be available to Swimmers in the Squad and JDS and who will be in be in School Year 6 or above at the date of the swim camp.

Proposal: To travel during the October Half Term (Dates to be confirmed pending school term dates)

  • 4/5 day swim camp at Lloret De Mar, Spain
  • Flights to Barcelona
  • Staying in a 4* Hotel on half board basis
  • 2 x 2 hours swim sessions per day in 50m pool
  • Options for day trip to Barcelona (TBC)
  • Bowling Evening

The indicative cost of this trip would be approx. £499 per swimmer, but we are hoping to get this to approx half that price with the help of all our fundraising, e.g. Swimathon, Sponsored walk, bag packing etc. So if you intend to join the club in Spain, you would be expected to take part in our fundraising events, whenever possible.

A deposit will be requested separately in September 2017.

We will be holding a question and answer sessions for parents on the 8th September at Ystrad Sports Centre, details to be confirmed.

So what happened on the last swim camp?

One of our swimmers, Noah Pugh penned the report below following his time at Swim Camp 2017, if you have any doubts about attending Swim Camp, give Noah’s report a read…

Parents 25m Badges Swim Session

Due to a reduction in pool time allocated to Rhondda Swimming Club by RCT Council, the club is now over subscribed. Unfortunately this means we have to cut the number of swimmers in the club.

The committee have thought long and hard about a fair way to decide which swimmers stay and which swimmers we have to let go. If a swimmer wishes to remain in the club, their parents need to earn a 25 metre badge.

On Friday April 7th from 7pm to 9pm, one lane will be made available for parents to swim 25 metres, and earn a badge.

Only children of parents who earn the 25m badge during the above swim session will be allowed to remain members of the club.

Rhondda Swimming Club committee apologies for these drastic measures, but we think this is the fairest way to do this, as having a parent who can swim 25 metres shows that the whole family is committed to the club’s future.

Thank you,
The Committee.

THIS WAS AN APRIL FOOL’S DAY JOKE – We hope it didn’t cause parents too much alarm.
